the idea would be that a couple that is playing with gags does know each other deep enough to know what this person likes and what not, and also to recognize its expression by simply looking at their face and know if they are enjoying it or not, but in any case, a goood last resourse is to hum a song. You know, like, instead of choosing a "safeword" like "house" you choose a "safe-song" that its easy to recognize if someone hums it with a gag.
